Paris Agreement

Paris Agreement

The Paris Agreement is a global climate agreement adopted under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2015. It aims to strengthen global action against climate change by limiting global temperature rise, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting countries in building climate resilience.

For Afghanistan, the Paris Agreement provides a framework for climate adaptation, mitigation planning, reporting, and accessing international climate support. It guides national climate strategies, including efforts related to renewable energy, disaster risk reduction, sustainable development, and climate finance.

The agreement requires countries to submit Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), report climate progress, and strengthen actions over time to address climate challenges.
